Sherry Edwards
PMHNP-BC

Sherry is a board-certified Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner (PMHNP-BC) with more than 25 years of experience in the healthcare field in many different roles. Her professional journey began right out of high school, and over the decades she has served in a variety of settings, including hospitals, outpatient clinics, education, and home health. These diverse experiences have shaped her comprehensive understanding of the healthcare system and deepened her compassion for the individuals and families she serves.

A proud graduate of North Carolina A&T State University, Sherry earned her Bachelor of Science in Nursing before completing her Master of Science in Nursing at the University of Alabama in Tuscaloosa. Her extensive background in healthcare ultimately led her to pursue her true passion—psychiatric and mental health care—where she could combine her clinical expertise with her commitment to community service.

Sherry’s clinical focus includes the treatment of depression, anxiety, premenstrual dysphoric disorder (PMDD), post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD), and schizophrenia. She works with adolescents and  adults populations, tailoring care to meet each individual’s unique needs and goals. Her approach integrates holistic, collaborative, and evidence-based practices, ensuring that every treatment plan considers the whole person—mind, body, and environment.

Beyond providing care, Sherry is deeply committed to reducing stigma around mental health and reframing societal norms surrounding emotional wellness. She believes in meeting each patient where they are, creating a safe, nonjudgmental space where healing and growth can take place. Her philosophy centers on compassion, connection, and empowerment—helping individuals not only manage their symptoms but also rediscover balance, resilience, and purpose in their lives.

Sherry’s work is guided by the belief that mental health care is not just treatment—it’s a partnership built on trust, respect, and understanding. She takes pride in serving her community and considers it both a privilege and a calling to help others navigate their mental health journeys with hope and dignity.
