Arkady Weikleenget, “Kady”, is a Psychiatric-Mental Health Nurse Practitioner (PMHNP). She has worked in the psychiatric-mental health field for over 10 years, initially as a psychiatric technician, then as a psychiatric registered nurse, and now as a PMHNP. She has worked across a multitude of settings with all ages, including: a psychiatric emergency department, observation units, inpatient psychiatric units, partial hospitalizations, outpatient treatment programs, and a group home. She has worked on specialized inpatient psychiatric units that include: adult intensive care, child/adolescent, crisis, dual diagnosis, eating disorders, geriatric, psychotic, and substance abuse/chemical dependency. She has also done consultations on inpatient medical/surgical units for patients with psychiatric-mental health disorders. She has experience working with patients diagnosed with Anxiety disorder, Obsessive-compulsive disorder, Depressive disorder, Bipolar disorder, Schizophrenia, Schizoaffective disorder, Eating disorder, Neurodevelopmental disorders, Trauma and Stressor related disorders, Personality disorders, Sleep disorder, Gender dysphoria, Alcohol and Substance related disorder, among others. She is especially interested in personality disorders, trauma, and the role of genetics.

 

She truly found her niche in psychiatric-mental health nursing and is passionate about helping others and making a difference in their lives. She has a humanistic and biopsychosocial approach to treatment that emphasizes the whole person with the foundation of the therapeutic relationship that is conducive to healing. She graduated from the University of Minnesota in Moorhead, MN in 2011 with her Bachelor of Science in Nursing and minor in Psychology summa cum laude.  She moved to Charlotte, NC after graduation where some of her family lives. She graduated from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill with a Masters in Nursing in 2016 and became a certified PMHNP. She enjoys teaching and took additional courses and received her certificate in nursing education. She likes serving as a preceptor for undergraduate and graduate nursing students.
